PADI - Scuba Diving Essentials App Reviews

Disappointed

Nice looking interface with options that lead to nowhere. Locator and log dont work.

E-card Trouble Solved

I had trouble with the e-card function in the app at first and I dont think its a particularly well designed app overall. That being said, I called customer service and they were very responsive to my problem, quickly fixing my e-card issue in an hour. So for the top notch support I raised my review score. Maybe not the best price for an e-card but their customer service was excellent.

Poor implementation - horrible user experience

Login does not work correctly. You can sign into your account but your digital cards do not load. Its a big pain in the rear to figure out your login. Even the instructions in the email reference a username, but there is only an email to sign in with. It appears Padi has a poorly run login infrastructure and with moving and merging records - this makes the app worthless. If you could screw up an app this badly and have it still in the App Store, obviously Apple has some review issues. Suggestions: 1. Pay a firm to build your app (a reputable one). 2. Clearly explain which login should be used, if need be build a page on the Padi.com site and explain how to transition to the SSO login credentials. This is really confusing, I can only imagine how non technical folks are doing. 3. Padi eCards should be viewable in the browser and in the app. You need to be able to access it when your crappy app fails. 4. Build a new app - correctly this time.

PADI review

Pretty disappointed with this app. Thought it would be nice to have my cards in an app but not for $40. I have spent over $1000 on 4 classes and the app wont even provide free cards!!!! I guess Ill just keep a photo of the card in my phone. Probably will delete the app since I dont use it and it just takes up space.

PADI Instructor

I tried to get the 50 year PADI card and ended up being sent all around Robin Hood’s barn. Never got to the 50 year card

Id give negative stars if I could!

What an embarrassing app for the "worlds leading SCUBA agency". This is par for the course with PADI. Not surprising at all. PADI should fire their entire digital engagement staff (assuming there is one) and start over. This app is clunky and really doesnt function at all. The PRO side is even worse and doesnt render correctly on iPhone. It is appalling that they think it is OK to charge for an eCard. For those of you who have lost your card(s), go through the "Replacement Card" process, and when it finds your profile, take a screenshot of your credentials and then close the site. You wont get your cert numbers, but it will show your cert dates and credentials. PADI has great educational content, but this half-baked social/digital media product is terrible. Off to delete the app now...

Sad implementation of what would have been useful

Disgraceful app for an organization that makes money hand over fist at every corner...

Poor app, useless, do not waste your time

1. In order to pull up your record, you have to purchase and e-card. Thats just extortion. Broken Biz model. And, offensive. 2. The process for buying the e-card is a messy shove off to the website (why would you ever want the app to facilitate it, right? That makes sense). The website interface does and amazing job of being as bad as the app. 3. Then you learn they want $42 to basically query their database for a few numbers which is just an inelegant revenue model and just about offends anyone.

ECARD function does not work

ECARD function does not work

Useless

Just certified open water (at age 62!) Got several emails offering a “30 day trial of an eCard” but got an error message every time I tried clicking on the link. I have the card in my wallet and a picture of the card in Evernote on my phone. Why would I pay more money for an “eCard” that I am unable to access? It appears that nobody from PADI is paying attention to these reviews. Oh, well, they can’t take away my enjoyment of diving.

Uninstalled

Terrible app. Sure seems like it could be helpful but nothing works and it lacks in every way.

Yep...its really that bad

Im one of the chumps who ponied up for the e-card, which doesnt work. Easily one of the worst apps Ive ever used.

Unbelievably bad app

I never write reviews, but this app is so unbelievably bad, I made an exception. 90% of the time it wont even let me log in - it tells me my PADI is wrong, or my email address. Locator doesnt work. PADI clearly doesnt care, or they would fix this app.

Why so many bad reviews? Yes it is that bad!!!!

All the negative reviews you are reading are not true. This App is EVEN WORSE than the reviews. Produce just one diver who was able to purchase an Ecard with this app and/or the website. Did someone at PADI let their 14 year old nephew write this app? Solution: Pull this embarrassment from the App Store and apologize. Hire a real app development company to rewrite a new one from the ground up. PADI, your reputation is being damaged with every download. Cut your losses now.

Fix ur app

Only got it to work after a password reset.

Good idea, bad app development

This app has the potential to be an excellent accessory to a diver. However, PADI has some major work to do. The virtual dive log (through ScubaEarth) absolutely does not work. There are also some format issues when opening certain links with the app. After reviewing so many negative (but true) comments about this app, I am surprised PADI has done nothing to resolve the issues.

PADI fan forced to agree, it’s not worth the time.

I was surprised to see so many negative reviews. I have always found PADI products to be very helpful. The App unfortunately was not only not helpful I found it frustrating. I tried to purchase an ecard and have been trying to download it since January of 2015. I keep getting told to contact my dive shop or resort. I don’t think my dive shop should have to sort out PADI’s errors. The PADI web site is as non-functional as the app. I wasn’t able to contact them via the website. I was finally able to get a phone number from my credit card company. I’m going to call them in the hope that I finally get some of the good customer service that another reviewer got. I’d give up if I didn’t pay fifty dollars for an ecard. For me the primary reason to get the app was ecards. The ecards don’t work. Find one of the paid apps and take a picture of your card. Save your self time and aggravation.

Really bad, really really bad

I actually dont understand how can PADI have an app as bad as this one. Its absolutely useless, it simply doesnt do what it should. Every time I try to use it I fail getting anything out of it. eCard doesnt work, app is slow and badly designed, dive logs are missing. Uninstalling.
